Straightening your teeth at home with clear orthodontic aligners is a breeze, which is why so many people are choosing this method. Aligners are practical, comfortable, and effective, making the process simple. However, since they are lightweight and thin for comfort, it’s important to care for them properly to get the most out of your investment. To help you achieve lasting results without any unexpected complications or extra costs, we’ve put together a handy checklist of do’s and don’ts for maintaining your aligners.
Keep all of your aligners: remember to keep all of your aligners since you may need them later on during your treatment! and keep them safe from pets (since rover will likely chew them up!)
Refreshing rinse: One of the most important things people don’t always know is how to clean clear aligners. Aligners should be washed daily with warm water and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Don’t use toothpaste — that scratches aligners. Use an unscented, dye-free soap instead.
Just in case: Your aligners come with a case. Not using the case is one of the main reasons why clear aligners break. The case offers all the protection your aligners need.
Heat stress: Hot conditions are the enemy of clear aligners. Direct sunlight, being in a hot car, or contact with hot surfaces or water will warp or destroy your aligners.
Keep away from pets/children: Clear aligners present an intriguing chew toy for dogs and cats. Curious children are also fascinated by aligners. When you are not wearing your aligners, keep them somewhere safe.
Hygiene clean: Just before you put your aligners in, use NewSmile Tray Spray to make sure your teeth are being met with a hygienic surface. It’s mint-flavoured, doesn’t require rinsing, and naturally kills 99% of germs.
Sparkly teeth: To reduce the risk of plaque and cavities, brushing and flossing your teeth is a must before putting your aligners back in.
File it away: If part of your aligner’s edge feels sharp against your gums, the provided file is there to buff away the sharpness.
Most importantly, TRUST the process:
Each aligner is custom-designed to gradually move and straighten your teeth. They may not be a perfect fit at first, but after your teeth start to shift, your aligners should fit.
If your clear aligners break, rip, chip, etc. here are things you should NOT do.
Sharp Objects: Resist the urge to remove your aligner using a sharp object. We send you an Outie Tool for this purpose.
Dishwasher Disaster: It’s hot inside a dishwasher, and the temperature will ruin your clear aligners.
Don’t Rush The Process: While it may be tempting to move on to the next aligner set at times, especially if your current set starts to feel loose...it is crucial to wear each set of aligners for the recommended two full weeks. Fully transitioning teeth to their desired new positions takes time; by taking shortcuts one could damage the progress already made or even damage the aligners themselves.
Mouthwash Mayhem: Is it OK to use mouthwash or denture cleaner on clear orthodontic aligners? No. These liquids can discolour or damage your prized plastics.
Out For A Bite: Wearing aligners when eating is not necessary. Unless it’s cool water you’re taking in, whip your aligners out to eat or drink.
Do NOT Use Force: This can damage your aligners and the end results could be compromised. NewSmile™ will send you Chewies you can use to gently seat your aligners without breaking them.
Twisty Trouble: Twisting the aligner when putting them in or taking them out can cause them to break. When removing, make sure to use both hands and pull them away from the back teeth first.
By following these simple measures, your aligners will stay in great shape until the moment you take them off for the final time, with perfectly straight teeth as the result.

When researching the best options for straightening your teeth, you’re likely to come across various misconceptions about invisible aligners, including Invisalign. Given that braces have been used for much longer, you might believe they are your only choice. However, advancements in methods and technology have significantly expanded your options. We’re here to clear up common myths about Invisalign-style treatments so you can decide if they are the right solution for your needs.
As the new kid on the block, invisible alignment methods get a reputation for being weaker than braces. Many people think that since they are made of plastic rather than metal, they couldn’t possibly have the same power to fix your teeth.
In reality, invisible aligners are capable of fixing even the most complicated cases of crooked teeth. Severe underbites and overbites, crowding, and even smiles with a missing tooth can be corrected by invisible aligners. As long as you are treated by an experienced, knowledgeable dental professional, you will see similar, if not better results with a treatment such as Invisalign, as opposed to braces.
The time it takes to achieve a beautifully straight smile will vary between cases, but invisible aligners are often able to straighten teeth even faster than braces. In general, an Invisalign-type treatment takes about the same amount of time as traditional braces. Your teeth move at essentially the same pace with either one, and the length of treatment will depend on how crooked your teeth are.
At NewSmile, the average treatment time is six months.
You should never pay more for invisible alignment than you would for braces. Straightening your teeth with invisible aligners will require either the same number of dentist or orthodontist appointments as braces, or far fewer.
NewSmile™ invisible teeth aligners cost an average of 75% less than other teeth straightening methods.
Some insurance companies will cover Invisalign-style treatments in the same way they would cover conventional braces. If you have an orthodontic benefit, you are likely eligible for financial assistance for invisible aligners. Check with your insurance company to find out what kind of orthodontic coverage is included in your policy, and work with your dental professional to come up with a payment plan that works for you.
It is never too late to love your smile. You deserve to experience joy with confidence and never feel like you need to hide your mouth.
If you’re worried about people judging you for having metal brackets on your teeth past adolescence, invisible aligners may be the perfect solution. They are made from clear plastic that most people will never notice.
In the beginning, you may notice you speak with a slight lisp. After a couple of days, you will get used to your aligners and they shouldn’t have any impact on the way you speak. As long as you are following the treatment plan laid out by your dental professional and keeping your aligners in, you will quickly forget you’re even wearing them.

Sure, your mother might have been urging you to smile throughout your life, but did you know that there are significant benefits to smiling? And these benefits aren't limited to those who see the world through rose-colored glasses.
Extensive scientific research supports the health benefits of smiling. It's quite remarkable! Studies conducted by experts in psychology, medicine, and science have consistently shown that smiling can strengthen relationships, boost your mood, and even contribute to a longer life.
If you’re still thinking the concept is too good to be true, check out our list of in-depth evidence that shows how smiling can actually improve your health.
If you experience high blood pressure, something as easy as smiling and laughing could help bring levels down. Who knew? A 2009 review shows how a few giggles will increase your heart rate and then cause a moment of muscle relaxation, which decreases heart rate and blood pressure. This reduces the risk of developing heart disease. So get to laughing!
Even if you have to fake a smile, your body will feel relief when you do so. In 2015, a psychology study showed that smiling can lower heart rate in a moment of stress. Therefore, if you smile while doing a stressful task, your body will maintain a lower heart rate and blood pressure.
The “fake it until you make it” idea really rings true here. No need to turn to expensive massages or comedy shows to improve your mood—just putting on a smile will give you an immediate boost. A study in 2010 found that smiling can increase positive thoughts and make you feel better about your situation.
The health benefits of smiling aren’t just about you—smiling can enhance relationships and therefore pass on the health benefits to those around you. In 2014, a study showed that people who smile are more likable than those who don’t smile. This helps improve relationships and increase positivity between couples.
If you’re smiling in the workplace, you’ll feel happier there too. That happiness will pay off too—studies show that happy employees are more productive, energetic, and more likely to be promoted. So if you’re looking for a raise, you just may be able to smile your way there.
Yes, the claims on this one are sound. Smiling can actually contribute to a longer life! Researchers who analyzed the smiles of Major League Baseball players from 1952 found that those who had even a partial smile in photos lived two years longer than players who didn’t smile. And those who had big smiles lived an average of seven years longer than those without smiles.
If you’re tired of popping the painkillers, give smiling a try. A 2012 study found social laughter to be powerful medicine, helping to increase pain thresholds and create a higher pain tolerance. Though the pain doesn’t technically go away, the body’s ability to feel the pain lowers. It’s like magic!
Along with the health benefit of reducing stress, smiling can send out signaling molecules to the brain that fights off illness. This means you’ll have a stronger immune system and get sick less often. So, start practicing your best smile when cold season comes around! A 2015 study even found that recent postpartum women had a stronger immune system when they participated in laughter therapy.
Whether you’re looking for love or just a friend to hang out with, try smiling to attract others. Smiling is contagious, and since it brings so many health benefits, those who see you smiling will start to smile and reap the benefits as well. Though the feelings may be subconscious, your companions will like you more when they see a smile on your face.
So now you know a variety of ways that smiling can benefit your health. But how exactly does smiling help you live longer and healthier? Assuming you’re not interested in reading the nitty gritty details of all these scientific studies, we’ll break things down for you in simpler terms.
Every time you smile, your brain receives neural messages. Neuropeptides are one of the helpful, minuscule molecules that send positive vibes to the brain. These molecules allow neurons to communicate and tell your body when the brain is feeling any emotion, from happiness to fear or excitement.
Smiling also releases neurotransmitters, including dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin. These are some of the chemicals released during exercise, sex, and breastfeeding, and they are a powerful way of bringing out positive emotions and creating human bonds.
Though forced and even fake smiles can amazingly provide similar health benefits to a real smile, studies show that authentic smiles are best. So what is a “real” smile? A true smile is scientifically known as a Duchenne smile and is constituted by a smile that causes the cheeks and eyes to raise. Smiling with just the mouth can bring benefits, but Duchenne smiles are more effective in bringing all the life-elongated benefits of smiling.
If you aren’t already a habitual smiler, it’s time to start practicing. Men are especially prone to smile less than women, and adults smile less than children. So there’s plenty of room to improve on the smiling habit, no matter who you are.
And if you don’t like your smile or aren’t confident about your teeth, NewSmile can help! NewSmile aligners offer an affordable and convenient way to discreetly straighten teeth. Your NewSmile Impression Kit could be in the mail within a few days, and the process is risk-free. Start your path to a more confident smile with NewSmile™ aligners today!

A confident smile is a powerful asset that everyone should be proud to showcase. While some of us may not be thrilled with our dental imperfections, each of us has the ability to make a change!
The journey to loving your smile starts with a dental Impression Kit from NewSmile™. We’ll deliver the kit directly to your doorstep, and with our straightforward, step-by-step instructions, you’ll create a mold of your teeth in no time. It’s that easy—your path to a better smile begins quickly and simply!
But what happens next after sending your Impression Kit back?
In this article, we’ll explain each step in detail so you have a full understanding of how we will help you obtain that beautiful pearly-white grin you’ve been dreaming of. Here is what you can expect after you complete the Impression Kit.
Once you’ve sent us the molds you created using the home Impression Kit, one of our licensed dental experts will review the mold and begin crafting the best strategy for your teeth. Just like a traditional dental health practitioner, our team of professionals create a personalized month-to-month plan to help you achieve your smile goals. Unlike a traditional dental health practitioner, this doesn’t require multiple in-office visits.
Once your smile plan has been finalized and reviewed by one of our dental experts, it’s time for a sneak peek at the final result (a.k.a. your dream smile). Not long after sending your completed impressions, you will receive a preview of our plans and a sneak peek of what your smile will look like at the end of your transformation. After you approve your personalized smile plan, we can get to work!
After the home impression kit, the planning, and the sneak peek, it’s time to put our plans for your smile into action. You will receive your invisible aligners, shipped right to your door and ready to use! Well, almost ready.
As anxious as you may be to begin your smile transformation, it’s important that you clean your aligners before use. Give them a good, thorough cleaning with soap and hot water before you slide them into place.
In just three steps and a couple of weeks, you’ll be ready to begin your smile transformation with your customized set of invisible aligners from your dental impression kit. Pop those babies in and let them do the rest of the work. Wear your aligners as instructed—which is pretty much all the time. The only time you should remove your aligners is when you’re brushing your teeth, eating, or drinking a beverage that isn’t water.
Some users make the mistake of thinking their invisible aligners act as a shield for their teeth, so they become negligent when it comes to their oral hygiene; however, this assumption is incorrect. While the aligners will fit nice and snug against your teeth, it is possible for saliva and bacteria to get trapped beneath them, which can increase your risk of developing cavities. Keep up good oral hygiene habits, and take the time to investigate other common misassumptions.
At NewSmile™, we don’t just ship your aligners and move on. We’re with you throughout the entire process to ensure your expectations are being met and things are going as planned when you get your dental impression kit. While waiting for your teeth progress at home, you can expect regular, remote checkups with one of our licensed dental professionals about your progress (for a fee). These brief reviews will allow our experts to make sure you’re on track to achieving your smile goals and give you the opportunity to express any questions or concerns you may have along the way.
That’s really all there is to it! See? We told you the process was as simple as the home impression kit! In only five steps, you can have your dream smile! So what are you waiting for? Find out how you can get your impression kit for free and start your journey today!

Personal insecurity about appearance is a complicated and harsh reality. We often scrutinize ourselves in the mirror, fixating on imperfections that others likely don’t even notice. Watching movies, we see those flawless Hollywood smiles and think, “If only my smile looked like that.” During a job interview, the thought might cross your mind: “What if they notice my teeth and it affects my chances?” People will say, “It’s what’s inside that matters,” and while that’s true, some things just feel unchangeable.
Balding? Sorry, pal. Freckles? Embrace them! Birthmark? It’s part of you. But … what if there was something that bugged you that was easy to change. Something that you can do that you’d wish you’d done years earlier? Something like closing that gap in your teeth that has affected your self esteem for so long? You might see gap-toothed celebs Jack Black, or Madonna, or Woody Harrelson and it makes you obsess over your own tooth gap, wondering “how do people see me?” In France, teeth with gaps are called “lucky teeth” or “happy teeth.” But cultures differ, and for some Americans, having a gap between their teeth makes them anything but happy. In the majority of cases, taking action to close a tooth gap is well worth it, if it improves a patient’s confidence. These days, having a gap-free smile is easily, painlessly and affordably done, without any health risks. Here, we explore the pros and cons of each type of “gap-closing” alternative.
If you see your reflection and that gap between your teeth bothers you every time, placing a negative effect on your self confidence, it makes sense to assess your options for fixing it. Moving on with your life in this way may be more realistic than you think. Assessment starts with knowing what teeth gaps are, and why they form.
The formal name for a gap between two teeth is a diastema, and in humans, this term is most commonly used to describe a space between the two front incisors. Diastema can happen in children and adults, and sometimes the gap can close by itself as a child grows older. There are a few factors that can cause this gap to form, and sometimes a person’s diastema can be caused by more than one condition. Heredity does play a role too, so perhaps you can thank your parents for the gap that has drawn you to this blog post.
First, gaps may form between teeth due to the teeth being too small for the jawbone. That means the teeth have room to space out. Second, there is the tissue that borders your gum line and front teeth. This labial frenulum can overgrow between the teeth, causing a gap to form. Third, teeth gaps can happen because of habits. Thumb-sucking in children pressurizes the front teeth, pushing them outward and apart; and in children and adults, tongue-thrusting can be the cause of a gap between teeth. Tongue thrusting is associated with the swallowing reflex. Some people, when swallowing, press their tongue against the front teeth rather than the roof of the mouth. Finally, gum disease can be a cause for diastema. This is where inflammation affects the gums and tissue that support the teeth.
If your gap is caused by gum disease, the cause should most certainly should not be left untreated. Only once gum disease is remedied — bacteria eliminated and bone health addressed — should action be taken to reduce the gap between your teeth. Most often though, a tooth gap is merely a cosmetic issue that does not pose any health concerns. Your toothbrush can access the gap, food doesn’t get caught as easily, tartar buildup is reduced. It can be ok.
But there is always the question of self esteem. Everyone should feel completely confident in flashing a broad, beaming smile. If the gap between your teeth brings you down and inhibits your ability to communicate, smile, interact and feel confident — considering ways to fix your gap is advised.
Technology has come a long way. Absolutely, you can fix a gap in your teeth without using braces. Zac Efron did it. These days, there are multiple ways to fix your tooth gap. They are:
Some procedures and solutions are more invasive, painful, or expensive than others. Some are completely painless. Here is what you need to know about how each of these dental options can fix the gap between your teeth.
Braces used to be the go-to for straightening and shifting teeth, but now they are something of a last resort. Braces apply pressure over a long period of time, to draw teeth in the desired direction and align the jawbones. It’s an extremely effective method of fixing your gap but it hurts! And it’s expensive. There are better options because this is a little more than what most people with a simple diastema need.
Similarly, implants are used to fill in a single-tooth size gap. An enamel tooth is inserted into the bone or attached to surrounding teeth. An implant is the highest-cost procedure in our list of gap-fixes, and is not something most people with a small gap need to worry about.
Here we have a procedure normally reserved for repairing chipped or broken teeth. It’s effective, and affordable, but these days, not really common for fixing a gap between the front teeth. The problem with bonding is that the bonding agent is not entirely stain-proof.
A crown is a porcelain shell that serves a cosmetic purpose, as well as being a way to repair a cracked tooth. They can also be added to teeth to create an even bite, and being porcelain, it will last a lifetime. A veneer, on the other hand, is a thin shell of porcelain that is bonded to the teeth after a little bit of enamel is removed. These are expensive but popular, especially now that the veneer quality is high. Customer satisfaction is usually a given, but one issue with veneers is that it requires a professional, reputable dentist to carry out the dental work.
These are bands placed around two teeth, which draw the teeth together when worn in bed each night. And they do work, and don’t cost much once an initial check for suitability is done by the dentist. There are limitations, however. The gap cannot be too big, and your other teeth must be straight, or dental issues could happen when the bands start to take effect. Larger gaps can take up to six months to close.
Clear retainers are the best way to affordably and safely fix a gap between the teeth. There is really no downside to clear retainers. These are a relatively new alternative to braces but their popularity is surging because the product gets great results. With a high-quality provider such as NewSmile, an impression kit is sent to a customer’s home, and once the impression of the teeth is made, sent back to the retainer provider. NewSmile specialists then assess whether clear aligners are suitable for each unique customer, and if so, plastic molds are sent and worn by the customer. The customer changes out the retainer as teeth move and the gap closes, for however long is necessary. Kids — and adults who have put up with a gapped smile for far longer than they care to think about — love clear aligners because they are invisible, removable at meal times, and work fast. Clear aligners are a low-cost fix, and in almost all cases, highly successful.
If you have been withholding your smile for years because of a gap between your teeth and are curious about what you’d look like with a gleaming, gap-free smile, there is no reason not to try clear aligners from a provider such as NewSmile. You don’t need to wonder about how to fix a gap in your front teeth without braces. Clear aligners are affordable, effective, and no-one will even know you are wearing one — the first they’ll know of it is when you reveal a Hollywood smile you finally feel confident in wearing.
Ready to start wearing a new, happy smile you will love? Why wait? Order your treatment and get your Impression Kit from NewSmile today to find out if clear aligners will work for you. We'll also throw in free retainers and teeth whitening to maintain a brilliant and more confident smile for you.

The aim of clear braces or clear aligners is primarily teeth straightening, correcting the poorly positioned teeth, and improving performance and function.
People undergo orthodontic treatments for quite a number of medical reasons or just to straighten their teeth and to correct these orthodontic issues. There are two types of orthodontic treatments; clear braces and clear aligners; and knowing their differences, benefits, and peculiar advantages will guide your choice whenever the need arise.
1. Comfort:
With clear braces, there are initial discomforts, the brackets and wires can irritate the mouth, but patients can manage them. While with clear aligners, there might be discomfort when a patient switches to new aligners, but this discomfort can be easily managed.
Clear aligners are preferred because they can be removed. You can take them out to eat, to brush, for special occasions, unlike clear braces. While it does its primary purpose of teeth straightening, it cannot be removed unless, of course, some specific foods are taken.
Clear braces are visible with wires, brackets, or rubber bands sticking out, making it embarrassing for some people. On the other hand, Aligners are clear and thin, making them seemingly "invisible" because they are designed to minimize their appearance.
With clear aligners, you can eat your favorite food whenever you want. While with clear braces, there’s some dietary restrictions as certain foods cannot be consumed: hard, crunchy, or sticky foods, mainly to prevent popping a wire or other damages.
Patients with clear braces need to keep teeth, gums, and braces free of food debris and plaque to prevent bacteria; also, brushing and flossing is more difficult, but with clear aligners, it can be taken out and the teeth adequately cleaned; as teeth need to be spotless when aligners are placed back.
Clear aligners allow for easier brushing, and food does not get stuck like clear braces where brushing and flossing is hard; food gets stuck and requires management to get through the difficulties.
Clear aligners require less visits to the orthodontists unlike the clear braces.
Clear braces to take more time in adjusting and teeth straightening, unlike aligners, which take a shorter time according to study.
Clear aligners cost less than clear braces, and savings with clear aligners are up to 75% (or thousands of dollars).
Clear aligners help you achieve that perfect smile, unlike with clear braces where wires and brackets poke out with each smile.
Most times, people prefer concealing their orthodontic treatments due to numerous reasons, and clear braces do not give you this option like clear aligners, which is made to be invisible.
Clear aligners began to be widely used in 2000, but clear braces have a history and have been used long before clear aligners were made.
Clear braces are more useful for more complex issues, unlike with clear aligners.
Less self-discipline is required for clear braces as there are no temptations to leave them out of one's mouth.
Clear braces may bring about sores, pain, or general discomfort from its wires or brackets, unlike clear aligners.
With clear braces, tooth discoloration due to difficult hygienic care is possible, while clear aligners give room for proper care since they can be removed and thus no discoloration.
Clear braces and clear aligners function as teeth straighteners and are both useful. It's important to note that it is less about the appliance and more about the orthodontist's skill as both are effective and work pretty well. For more informations and to order for your clear aligners here.

Are you thinking about straightening your teeth for more smile confidence, but hesitate because you’re afraid of having metal in your mouth? Teeth straightening options have gone beyond metal and clear braces (ceramic brackets attached to the tooth), and modern practice is to look at are clear teeth straightening aligners as a primary option first. The tooth straightening process is now virtually invisible, and can be taken out while eating, drinking, during interviews, on first dates, etc.
How they worked before.
Clear aligners work by straightening your teeth in different steps. Each step of aligners are individually packed, and meant to be worn for two to three weeks each. They work best when worn for 22 hours a day (including while sleeping), and removed only while eating or drinking (anything but plain water). At the end of each two week period, you’ll move to the next aligner in your series. Of course, it depends on how your treatment plan was created, to see how fast your teeth will move and respond to the aligners.
Traditional treatment for teens and adults are between 18 months and 2 years, which is similar to traditional braces. You’ll also see a dentist or orthodontist usually about every four weeks in order to check on your progress. This can be a financially and time heavy investment for a lot of people living busy times, and being worried about attending appointments amid COVID-19 warnings.
There's an online option now for clear aligners.
Clear aligners online now have two options; day aligners and nighttime aligners. Day time only clear aligners are worn 22 hours per day, and each step is changed every 2-3 weeks. In contrast, nighttime only aligners are worn for 10 consecutive hours, and removed for the remaining 14 hours, while also changing steps every 2-3 weeks. In general, online clear aligners are focused on mild to moderate corrections for crooked teeth, crowded teeth, inconsistently gapped teeth, underbites, and overbites that are being caused by teeth that slant inward or outward (and not from jaw misalignment). You can see if you’re suitable with an online Smile Assessment quiz. While everyone may not be a good candidate, the question is if you are a good candidate for clear aligners? The following people are:
You had braces before, and your teeth have moved.
If you had braces earlier in life, but your teeth are starting to shift and move from not wearing your retainer, you are a good candidate for clear aligners. In many instances, individuals had metal or clear braces during high school, wore their retainers for a few years, and then stopped wearing them because everything looked great. More often than not, teeth will start shifting gradually and back to previous positions. Clear aligners can help fix and re-align those teeth that moved.
What about an overbite, underbite, or crossbite caused by slanted teeth?
Teeth that protrude can create what appears to be an underbite, overbites, or crossbites. This may affect your ability to chew food, and it’s possible to have this corrected by clear aligners since many cases are from teeth misalignment and not jaw misalignment. Clear aligners can help shift teeth so that they are completely vertical and beautiful.
Crowded, gapped or crooked teeth.
Invisible teeth aligners work to correct and straighten teeth that are crowded, have spaces, and/or are crooked. Many times, teeth that are in one of these categories can experience difficulty with brushing and cleaning, leading to cavities and sometimes gum disease. Clear aligners slowly shift your teeth to proper locations for healthier teeth, gums and better oral hygiene overall.
